My 2nd great grandparents were John DURKIN from Westport, Co. Mayo and Mary WALDRON from Ballyhaunis, Mayo. I've never found a marriage record for them, but they lived in New York, NY. John DURKIN was in the Irish Brigade, "the Fighting 69th," during the Civil War. Mary WALDRON died in December 1857 after giving birth to twin girls. One of the twins died, and the one who lived was my great-grandmother, Anna DURKIN, who married Patrick MOONEY. I have a good deal of information about the WALDRONs in Ballyhaunis, but very little about the DURKINs in Westport. Please let me hear from you.
