    1. Re: [DURKIN] Durkin, Lenahan, Carr, Cummings
    2. I have Durkin ancestors who came from Cloonacool and/or Dawros, County Sligo, to Salem, Massachusetts. The immigrant was my grandfather, Michael Durkin, son of Philip "Durcan" (sometimes spelled "Durkan") and Catherine Durcan, who were married in Kilmacteige Parish in February 1849. They were the parents of Pat, Luke, Bridget, Winifred, and Atty, as well as of Michael. I have baptismal information on all EXCEPT my grandfather, Michael. I'm not positive about the date on which Michael Durkin immigrated, but it may have been 1888. Michael married my grandmother, Bridget Marren in Salem, MA in 1898. Briget was the daughter of John Marren (spelled "Marin" in marriage certificate) and Bridget Mullarkey. As a child, I remember visiting some relatives in Chicago, but I'm not sure they were Durkins. They may have been connected with another family line. I hope this is helpful in some way. Rosemary Lyon IThis is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
