HI I would love to hear from any Durham Darlings as Im trying to establish my Darling family. My John Darling married Margaret Glendenning 1791 Esh. One of the witnesses was Robert Darling. They had thomas in Esh 1792 before moving to East Herrington where they had John 1796 and my Eleanor 1799 in New Herrington. John was a countryman (ag lab) He was baptised Brancepeth 1765 and his parents were Thomas Darling and Mary. Im working on the theory that Thomas Darling and Margaret Richardson married in Brancepeth 1757 and had Robert, Nicholas, Ralph, Thomas and John in Brancepeth, moved to Lanchester where they had Joseph, then onto Esh where they had Ann 1770 in the Lowside area of Esh, Mary and finally William in the Finings area of Esh 1775. Thomas died 4 Septemebr 1783 in Finnings and Mary died 2 March 1808 in Witton Gilbert, she was buried 06/03/1808 aged 73 years- the records state she was the widow of Thomas Darling. I got the Esh stuff from a book in Sunderland Local Studies. Im thinking Thomas didnt come from Brancepeth but maybe Chester le Street baptised 1728 son of Robert Darling and Mary Harrison, question is how do I get evidence of this. The only reason Im thinking this is that IGI doesnt have anyone else to fit the bill. If anyone else is looking at Durham Darlings i would love to hear so I can eliminate or add to my family. Carol
