    3. Hello all In the late 1860s or early 1870s Thomas Gotts, together with 6 of his brothers, (sons of Paul Gotts & Elizabeth Bacon) left the village of Saxthorpe in Norfolk to work in the coal mines of Co Durham. For some time I have been looking for the marriage of Thomas to a Margaret c1870-72 without any success. They had 8 children as follows:- Elizabeth b1872 md Edward Evans at Stanley Mary Jane bc.1874 md George Ernest Tedds - Keighley District, West Yorks (lived in Haworth) Eliza bc.1877 md Robert Liddle 1896 - Auckland reg.district George b.1878 md Nellie Parkinson 1914 - Chester-le-Street reg.district Annie b.1880 - d.1893 Christiana (or Christianne) b.1882 md John R Riddell - Newcastle-upon-Tyne reg.district Matthew b.1884 md Lydia Jackson 1906 - Durham reg.district Agness b.1891 md. Wilfred Wilson 1913 - Auckland reg.district Matthew Gotts was killed in action in France in 1916 and he and Lydia had 3 children, that I know of, all born at Stanley: Thomas b.1909, Margaret Lydia b.1910 and Matthew b.1914. George & Nellie didn't have any children. I have been given information on the family of Elizabeth & Edward Evans but would be pleased to hear from anyone who has a connection to the other families. I am especially keen to find a marriage date for Thomas & Margaret. Many thanks Pat Upsall - from Tuross Head NSW Oz
