Hi all. My 2x great grandparents were John MORTON and Ann HINDSON of Shield Row, County Durham, Ann according to census info was born about 1807 and the 1841 census for Shield Row lists her as being born in county, the 1851 census is confusing over her birthplace as it does not say what county but gives a place called Coldchester and I rule Colchester in Suffolk out as there does not seem to have been HINDSON'S at that place but there are HINDSON'S at Shield Row, I think the most likely parent for Ann is a shopkeeper called Jane HINDSON a single woman who has at least four children one of whom I cannot find any birth or baptism records, so if she has neglected one baptism it is quite possible that Ann is her child and has also not been baptised. I would love to hear if anyone can enlighten me on this subject or anyone researching the same families. Cheers. Wilf
