Hi Brian, Yes, thank you, I have seen the 'Google' search engine references but I am still casting about for an explanation for the use of the nickname either as a forename or a surname..... it's not clear, in the case of my ancestor. The single mention of the *nickname* that I have seen, and applied to my ancestor, is the use of the name "Lungie" on a 1870 death record in the U.S. I am curious as to the possibility that "Lungie" the nickname may relate to a specific noun... "a word that names or designates a person, place, thing, state or quality" thereby suggesting possible clues to parentage.
