Hi listees, I thought I was back beyond my Great Grandmothers generation, but a check on other details threw a spanner in the works. According to family remembrance and a needle holder my G Grandmother Polly Smith (married to Nurser Smith) was an Askew before marriage. However I have obtained Birth Certs for her two daughters and her maiden name is shown as Surkle on one and Sawkill on the other. She and Nurser are in the 1891 & 1901 Census and that gives her birth as S & N Shields . Has anyone any thoughts. Also there was a Dinah Askew, niece listed at the same address  I have a photographs of her with the name Dinah Askew on one and Dinah Bell on the back of the other. In anticipation Jim White
