Hi Lorie No they are not the same places, but not VERY far from each other. A useful introduction to British genealogy is the web site: www.genuki.org.uk Check out the Durham parishes of Sedgefield & Whitworth for information re: these 2 places. Also, you could look up a modern map on www.multimap.co.uk and search for the places - giving you a better idea of how close they are (or not!).
