I wonder if ANYONE would be so kind as to help me. I am "fairly" new to searching for my family tree. I have got to the stage where I have gone back in the censuses as far as I think I can, and I now need to look at Parish / Church Records. I have subscribed to Ancestry.co.uk and genesreunited, but I'm not at all sure if I am using Ancestry properly. I have tried to look at parish records and don't seem to be getting anywhere. I wonder if ANYONE would be kind enough to give me an "idiots" guide as to how to find people on the parish records. I have gone into this section, but don't seem to have much luck with anything. For instance, if a name comes up, how do you know if this is the correct person? If anyone could give me a bit of advice, or any tips, websites, etc. that they use in their searches, I would be grateful. My ancestors come mostly from South Shields, County Durham.
