Dear Listers, What can be or should be interpreted when an entry on the "Freebmd" website for a given date (Sept 1862) lists 3 individuals, two females & one male; an odd *man* out scenario. In this case, it's the extra female named that makes the odd number. There must be a simple explanation for this but I have yet to figure it out. Thank you, Bette
Hello Bette, Several reasons. The oldest used to be incomplete transcriptions of records, but FreeBMD are well on the way to having a complete set of the earlier records online. So a very well earned note of thanks to all transcribers is in order I would think. Then there are those that aren't easy to read and could be mistranscribed and appear with wrong page details. Then there are those that can't be read and don't appear at all on the page you want. Then there are those that are indexed wrongly at source by the GRO, for instance I have a Christiania that is recorded as Christopher in the index pages. If you send me details of your particular problem offline, I'll see if I can help.
