Would someone know of a website that gives information on who received a coat of arms in the past? Someone just told me about getting his family's coat of arms through a place called House of Names which I figure is one of the places that sells them. I've seen places set up in our shopping mall who used to do this as well. I don't remember what I've heard about coat of arms in the past, but I thought they went to an individual and that as that person married other symbols were sometimes added to the crest from the girl's family if they had a coat of arms. I thought I heard that the coat of arms only went down through the line of the person honored with it rather than to everyone with that surname. I would be interested in some information on this.
