    3. Hi Patrick Civil registration did not start until 1837 so there will not be a death certificate. You would need to search Parish Registers for a burial for your person, to do that you really need to know the Parish they died in. There are some burials listed on the National Burial Index (not exactly National I know but thats its name) Coverage can be checked here http://www.ffhs.org.uk/General/Projects/NBI.htm The majority of the NBI can be checked here http://www.familyhistoryonline.net/ Its pay per view but very cheap. If you post the name and details, perhaps others may have some information on burials in North Shields? Do keep in mind though, that the detail is sparse on burial information, it may however lead you on to finding a monumental inscription, should one exist.
