    3. Hi Jenny No, £45 is what TNA will charge for a search of the records currently available under the Freedom of Information Act. Unfortunately, in most cases, this will be money wasted, because the records they have are based only on addresses. They can't search for names, only addresses. So, unless you're sure where your relatives were on the night of the census in 1911, forget it. This isn't a ruse to stop people asking (although £45 will have that effect, I'm sure!). It's just how the records are currently compiled. The 1911 census info will look very different to what we've got used to. There won't be the enumerator's lists as we now see them (1841-1901) - just what people actually put on their actual census forms. One positive thing about this is that we'll actually be able to see our ancestors' handwriting etc... In 2009, TNA expect to be able to offer 1911 census info complete, except for medical info, which will remain closed until 2012 (which seems ridiculous to me, but I suppose they have to find some way of justifying their opposition all these years!) 3. Hi Mike, Thankyou for putting me right about the search of the census being offered by the national archives. I don't think I will be wasting 45GBP just to be told my family no longer live at the given address. I know that both my own families and those of my husband moved about regularly from house to house and from place to place, if not from county to county. I would sooner save my money for something more useful and wait for the 1911 census to be put online by one of the subscription sites later on. Thanks again. Regards Jenny DeAngelis Spain.
