The Durham & Sunderland Railway had a Station on the Town Moor, so it was probably the Thomas Street off Prospect Row. A Superintendent, aka general superintendent, or superintendent of the line, was responsible for the handling of all descriptions of traffic at the station, and sometimes performed the duties of a passenger manager.
