Sarah I have a John Ray who was born in Old Felton, Northumberland in 1806. I have no idea where Shivington is, but if there is any connection with the John Ray in my line I would be happy to share the information that I have. The family eventually moved to North Shields so the likelihood of a connection is probably remote.
