Hi In our quest to find the elusive George Burdess born circa 1769 we are looking at all parishes near to allendale where he later said he came from. Using Hugh Wallis we found C000543 Stanhope The surnames are somewhat strange, were there immigrant workers in the mines back then? Did the parish write in a foreign language- im tempted to say latin but it looks more like German Can anyone think of an explanation? carol
