Hi, I just fell off several lists about 4 years ago. I thought roots web had finished! Anyway partly to remind myself..... GILDERT- James was the head born abt 1802. He was a gardener & from christenings etc he was in Newcastle in 1831& the family moved to Eighton Banks by 1833. Sarah Gildert was his wife born 1804 in Berwick on Tweed and is on her own with the children by 1841(as Gildard)Ind means & 1851(as Gildart). In 1851 she is listed as a pauper but not a widow. 1881(Geldert) school caretaker aged 76 I could not trace their marriage. He seems to have just gone off the radar, but the real frustration is not finding him in 1841 or 1851 & getting an idea of where he came from! In 1841 Sarah is listed as "by Independent means".Was this just used to hide poverty? I have no idea of Pauper rules & provisions. James was the eldest son & died in 1848 aged 18 of TB . I have not seen his baptism. Jane was the eldest daughter & was also a pauper in 1851(Hamilton) as she was widowed by the age of 19 with a 1 year old baby. The next husband is also a miner(Dodd) & dies quite young leaving her with 6 children by 1871(Excluding 21 year old Sarah Hamilton). Henry was born in 1833 & his male line ends with Ernest who dies in 1935 in Gateshead. He was a Coal Miner & lived to be 71 !!!! Ernest Gildert married Mary Ann (Minnie) Turnbull. They have 7 children.5 girls & 2 boys. The boys die in infancy. One girl dies on the same day as the one born but is named differently, and another lives just over 1 year. 3 girls marry & I have got stuck ! Mary Isabella (Bella) b 1891 marries Charles Tomlinson & she dies in Thursby 30/9/1912. I can't see a marriage anywhere........... Elizabeth Lenora (Nora) b 1896 marries Reuben Vassey in 1920 at the Unity Church , Coatsworth Church, Gateshead (Tick) Sarah Annie (Annie) b 1898 is down as being the wife of Frederick Ernest Robson by 1931 living at 212 Windsor Ave, Saltwell & I can't see a marriage anywhere........... Any ideas on how to progress further would be most appreciated. Thanks EDGARS are from Kirkpatrick Fleming. James 1849-1912 was the first to venture down to Gateshead/Wrekenton DAVISON Elizabeth b April 13 1833, Birtley Not found christening. Father was James in the Royal Navy but the marriage entry in Newcastle 1858 to Henry Gildert shows her father to be Joseph a Lead Miner. She just put X as her mark. That has led to much frustration ...any ideas how I should go from here? Elizabeth's husband was Henry Gildert mentioned above. Henry died aged 36 from Asthma & TB in Wreckenton in 1869 & the informant was James Davidson.............. ROBSON James born in 1887, died 1957. James was at 21 Nursery Lane, Windy Nook when he Married Margaret Edgar 28th March 1910 in Gateshead & they lived at 22 Longbank His father was Thomas a Fire Man at Chemical Works. The mother was Mary but in 1901 a Matilda fits better...... especially with brothers Jack, Thomas & sister Mary. There is a William too but I'm stuck waiting for the 1911 census.......... I hope you haven't all fallen asleep. Please help in anyway. And if there is anyone connected anywhere then give us a shout. Thanks again Bill B
