Dear Listers I have received a copy of a birth certificate in the post today and I am trying to find out a bit more information about the family. The certificate is for John Douglas McKay born on 7 Jan 1839 in what looks like Grainger Street in the sub district of St Andrew in Newcastle upon Tyne. His parents are John McKay and Elizabeth McKay formerly Hope (or Cope, it's not clear!). John senior is listed as a Baker. I'm trying to find their marriage or any other information about this family. They are very elusive on the 1841 census and I've tried the LDS site for a marriage. Perhaps someone more experienced than me will have more luck. Thanks in advance Net
