Newcastle United F.C. were formed in 1891 by an amalgamation of a team from the West end of Newcastle and one from the East end (mainly Byker). Their first season was at St. James' Park in 1892. In that first season their goalkeeper was a LOWREY from the East end, but there were several LOWREYs from that area who were of about the right age to be on the team.
