Hi Ralph, Just had a look on 'The Genealogist' web site - it isn't much better, However there were some clues. The first part of the registration district is 'Geo' & it end in 'Sq' So the registration district is 'St George Hanover Square' which is variously abbreviated. If you enter this into FreeBMD with the options of 1849 Births & the Vol no. 1 page 36. It is valid! So I conclude that the entry does read: WINTER, Mark, Geo St Han Sq I 36 Regards Sally
