    3. Hi to all, I have been searching for my grandmothers birthplace for quite some time and seem to have hit a brick wall, sound familiar !! Her maiden name was Mary Elizabeth Hunter and she married my grandfather in 1901 in the parish of Stranton in the district of Hartlepool. Her father was James Hunter and I believe they lived in Norton for a while. If anyone has any info. I would be very grateful as searching from Australia is not always easy. Regards, Bill Lambert.

    3. Bill Whether she married before or after the 1901 census was taken she should be listed there - either as a spinster (hopefully with her family) or with her new husband. The census entry shou;d give you her place of birth. Census records 1841-1901 are on-line at www.ancestry.co.uk/ you will need to register (free) to view the indexes and to view the full image from Oz, there are places here where you can buy vouchers ($15 Oz for 10 credits, valid 14 days) to enable you to view the full image.
