    1. [DUR-NBL] Emmigration records?
    2. Nora Avery
    3. Where would I go online to search (free?) records of those who left England in the mid 1800s for other countries? In particular I'm interested in my g-g'parents: William Avery (abt 25), wife Margaret Dawson Avery (abt 22), and baby daughter Jane Ann Avery (abt 1 year) who show up on the 1851 census in New Hartley, NBL. I have a copy of his citizenship document issued on 20 Oct 1856 in Allegany County, Maryland, USA. In that document it says he appeared before the clerk on 19 Sep 1854 to declare his intent to become a citizen. It also says (but this is not substantiated by any other documents) that "...said William Avery has continued to reside within the limits and under the jusisdiction of the United States for the last five years..." So, if I take five years off of the date of 20 October 1856 I arrive at October 1851. I am assuming that after the June 1851 census he left for America, but I haven't found the family on any ship's records for late 1851. I thought I'd look at the country of exit and see what I could find there. Any direction? Thank you. Nora Avery Gainesville, Florida, USA
