Hi Stan Thanks so much for that. It ties in with information I have from a record from the Primitive Methodists of a later date. Apparently they were chosen for prosecution, being sober and respected lay preachers, because they would make better examples. The manager agreed that they had opposed the strike but that made no difference. The treadmill destroyed the health of one of them who died upon his release. I claim Alexander WATSON as mine as I believe he was a Primitive Methodist at a time when there were only about 150 in the area. Years later his grandson, also Alexander, who had built a fair sized business in Bedlington, would rant at his workers if they sought extra work out of hours.
