Ian, We have tried everything we can think of and paid for the records of several John Hall's who were near the correct age and area. Stannington Reformatory was called "North Eastern Reformatory" in 1901. We have tried both of these names in searches with no results and are now wondering if the details for institutions haven't been released yet.
