Hi Nivard I'm afraid I don't have any specific names or details. The chap in the USA is a Sharpton and has very little information to give me. He knows his ancestors came from the UK but has no idea of their names or when they emigrated. I was asked to look up any Sharpton marriages in Northumberland as there is a 'story' in his family that says his ancestors came from Sharpeton in Northumberland. I did try to find further info of the Ann Sharpton whose marriage I found in the BMD but could not locate her or her husband in any of the census after her marriage. I will write to him again asking how far back he can actually go with his Sharpton line - I don't think the surname of Sharpton actually existed here. Thank you so much for your help. Best wishes. Hi Vivian I was going to suggest the same thing, taking pot shots in family history is generally prone to failure Looking at the IGI the only SHARPETON is the same marriage you found on freebmd,of the fifteen SHARPTONs there are five from the PRs and several LDS patron submissions, nine for the same person and one odd one Which does lead you to think its not a name in the usual sense Back to the start seems the logical way Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) Hi Nivard I'm afraid I don't have any specific names or details.
