Hi, I am researching the life and times of my late uncle John Edward "Eddie" LEVER who was born in Burnopfield in 1911, one of the children of Josiah and Ellen LEVER. The family moved to Burnopfield from Monkwearmouth sometime between 1905 and 1911. I believe that Josiah LEVER had a watch maker / repair shop in the village. Their address in the 1911 census was 6 Eden Avenue, Burnopfield. My uncle would have attended school locally with other elder brothers and sisters and he played football for White Le Head Rangers around 1927 before moving on to play professionally for Portsmouth. I have accumulated information about Josiah's ancestry but if any of your readers on this list can provide any information about the LEVER family and their time in Burnopfield I would be pleased to hear from them.
