    1. Re: [DUR-NBL] Relatives in the 4th Btn Coldstream Guards?

    3. I am trying to find a photo of my great grandfather, any photo, I have a suitcase full of photos from my late grandmother, and don't know which is my great grandfather. There were no obvious photos of a Coldstreamer (I have posted on The Great War forum you mention and ruled out the uniformed photos I have) He had a military funeral in Gateshead after 16 years service with 2 medals and 5 bars, with a contingent from the DLI (despite him being a Coldstreamer) performing a gun salute, it made the local paper, and had two photos from the funeral (none of him alive), which based on other funerals of the day appears to be quite unusual. I have the military/pension records have checked the local papers, know all about where he served and battles etc the pension details, the dependents etc, have the death certificate. I know his chest size, he had "slight varicose veins on both legs", height, etc where and when he was shot, and that he made it home alive, I know a 14 strong firing party. fired three volleys over the coffin under the command of Lieut H V Chisholm, heading the cortege. The buglers present were Simmons and Bosomworth. Father Jacobs of ST Josephs conducted the service. He had a large number of wreaths including one from the Naval Inspection Department Newcastle (I am yet to figure out why) Jack Dear Jack, You might of already done this, but have you contacted the Local Coldstream Guards Association? If not http://www.shinycapstar.com/contacts.htm#8assoc scroll to the bottom of the page where there is contact address. There is branches in Newcastle & Ashington . I would of thought that they might have a record of him, or even a photograph. Or write to the http://www.theguardsmuseum.com/ they have all the guards records. If you do not mind me asking, what medals was he awarded & which of these were the 5 bars attached. John little.blobby2@btinternet.com
