I quote from the Terms & Conditions of one major supplier:- "We can terminate your access to the Website if you breach our Fair Usage Policy for subscribers, breach these Terms & Conditions or if we cannot take a payment which is due "You can only use the Services and the Records for your PERSONAL family history research and not for commercial purposes, or to provide lookups for others." Nor is it just census returns that are covered by these sort of Terms & Conditions. You will find that family history societies that produce CDs, books, fiche, etc, plus other suppliers of genealogical data, also have a similar statement in the licence you automatically accept when you purchase materials from them. I advise you not to be blase about this and think it doesn't matter! I am certain the time will come when suppliers start enforcing their legal rights, just as online music providers are actively pursuing those pirates who download music illegally. I am sorry also if I am being cynical, but you demonstrate your naivety when you talk about "having completed my tree to a satisfactory standard". I have been in this business for 35 years and still am nowhere near completing my own family tree and I am certain this applies to just about everyone here! Perhaps you'd tell us the secret? You say you are new to this list and I cannot help wondering how many lists you have posted your look-ups offer to? I think I should caution you, gently, that the major suppliers of census and other data have observers who monitor the mailing lists for just this kind of message. -- Roy Stockdill Genealogical researcher, writer & lecturer Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."
