Hi Tony fascinating story I'm not able to assist directly but my mothers family was McGann and I have them on Tyneside in 1870 before moving to Teesside later in the century. I believe they were in the Bishop Auckland in 1861 but under the name of Maghann. The important point is the alternative names and their spelling but I could see you name sounding the same with an irish accent. If you want to look at the earlier McGanns then I'm happy to talk to you off list to see if there is any symmetry cheers doug kyle --On 23 November 2010 09:23 +1100 TonyM <Horler@one-name.org> wrote: > Hello, > > Can any one please assist me? > > I'm trying to find my aunt Elizabeth MEIGHAN, born at 36 St Cuthbert's > Street, Gateshead on 10th May 1912.
