    1. [DUR-NBL] Naming convention puzzle...

    3. I know about the various naming conventions when it comes to naming a child, but I wonder whether anyone has come across an instance where it appears a son may have be assigned the same three given names as his father? The person in question (and I think I should add I'm still researching) is one Robert Paxton Green Ackroyd. He was born around 1783 and there appears to have been a baptism at St Andrew's Church in Newcastle on 23 February 1783. Now, from what I have found out so far, he had a son who I first thought had been called Robert Paxton Ackroyd, born about 1817 in Durham. However, it is beginning to look as though this son was also called Robert Paxton Green Ackroyd. It would help to know if this is highly unusual, or whether other listers have come across such instances of the passing on of identical given names to the power of three! I personally have not come across this before and it has certainly had me scratching my head this last week or two as I have tried to unravel the puzzle. Regards... David Allan.
