I want to thank the posters who tried to help me figure out the delay in getting a certificate dated 1848 from the GRO. I finally received it yesterday and am happy. Now I have to figure out if this JOHN JONES a Clothier, is my John Jones" His daughter (I think) Margaret Jones married an Irishman PATRICK WOODS and they lived up in the Consett area. I have a lot of info from there but nada from Knaresboro as yet. Thanks again to Ian, Janis and Nivard for all the suggestions. If any kind soul has any ideas on why people would leave Knaresboro and go up about 100 miles and start a family maybe they could chime in. Thanks again.
