    3. Hi there listers I have sent the right amount of $$$ and the information to the GR office last month for a marriage certificate in Knaresborough in 1848 for JOHN JONES and CATHERINE CLARK. Writing from Cape Cod Mass, I have been doing Durham family genealogy for 12 years and the info has come slowly at best. This couple's children and grandchildren lived in Consett and worked in the mines. They had come from Co Monaghan (at least the in laws) and eventually(1879) came over to the US east coast. How long does it take for the GRO to send a cert ???? I found the info on findmypast and feel it is correct. It has been over a month and I wonder what you people have experienced with the office. Any info will be much appreciated as I got a confirmation etc. Thanks to all. Brenda

    3. Hi Brenda With great respect there is nothing anyone on the list can do, the best place to send an enquiry is the GRO themselves For contact details see http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/contact_us.asp There are email, telephone and snail mail ways of getting in contact Although it is frustrating when certificates do not arrive in five minutes <g> perhaps its worth taking into account that its just three weeks after Christmas when they would have had staff on holiday or closed completely (some places close days before Christmas and open in January) yet the orders invariably do not have holidays but get more as new people take up the hobby (obsession :-) I would make contact directly by the best method for you but do read the instructions on site If you have been waiting for twelve years a couple more weeks won't hurt to much <g> (and yes I am joking I know all to well the feeling of waiting) Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > Hi there listers > I have sent the right amount of $$$ and the information to the GR > office last month for > a marriage certificate in Knaresborough in 1848 for JOHN JONES and > CATHERINE CLARK. > Writing from Cape Cod Mass, I have been doing Durham family genealogy for > 12 years and the info has come slowly at best. > This couple's children and grandchildren lived in Consett and worked > in the mines. > They had come from Co Monaghan (at least the in laws) and > eventually(1879) came over > to the US east coast. > How long does it take for the GRO to send a cert ????
