Thanks Stan for sending this site for the Durham miners book. I often wondered why my great-grandparents left Durham in 1863 for America when we were in a civil war at the time. He was a miner and they lived in Brancepeth. Page 54 and 55 just answered that question for me. He probably got evicted due to the "the rocking strike" at Brancepeth. Stephanie
