Hi all Having downloaded a service record for a relative who was an officer in the RFC, I unexpectedly found that prior to RFC he was an undergraduate at Durham University from Feb to May 1917. Is there any way of finding out what he had been studying in that short time? Thanks. (He was James Tulloch/Tullock - spelling varies on several official documents. He was born 1899 Durham)

Thanks Stan - a closer look reveals it as FS - female servant. A tick after the FS confused me. One of the persons is Isabella Piles b. abt 1811 in Sedgefield. But I do have lots of relatives on adjacent pages, and also George Barron on the next page (7) listed as Tailor. Odd how we keep getting these mental blocks and the concentration isn't what it used to be! Many thanks, also to Ruth. Lancelot

According to entries in the International Genealogical Index - British Isles it is mainly a Suffolk name, although Vinnick is a variation of Fenwick which is a northern English habitation name. This Joseph Greener b 1810 Low Felling was the uncle to William Wellington Greener, gunsmith and inventor. Actually the Greener gun smith business is still operating I believe. Four of this Joseph Greeners uncles, 2 cousins, and grandfather died in the Felling mining disaster of 1812. Many in this family did not go into mining after this. Janis
