    3. Hi Gwyneth, If I were you I would join the Mariners mailing list. that list deals with Ships and the men who sailed them, the list does not deal with passengers etc. They helped me with information on several ships that my mariner ancestors sailed on over time. I received information such as the type of vessel, her registration number, when she was built and where, her tonnage, who owned her and when she was sold on and if she was lost or destroyed etc. The subscribers to mariners list are very helpful. Go to the Mariners website at http://www.mariners-l.co.uk/index-2.html There you will find in the menu the link for the Mailing List. Read the introduction page of Do's and Dont's for the list that will come up as a result of clicking on the link for the mailing list so that you know what you are subscribing to. 3. You are more likely to get a reply from the Mariners list. See http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/other/Occupations/Mariners.html I recently asked them about a ships captain in the 1740's and got several very good replies. 3. Hello everyone, I'm new to this list and hope that I may obtain information regarding the death of my grandfather ROBERT WILLIAM ATKINSON. He was born in Kingston upon Hull 15 June 1866 and lived and had a business on Hessle Rd/Commerce Lane. Last known address was Terry St, Hull. The nearest death details I can find in the NBI is of a Robert William Atkinson (age 63) D/Burial 5 Dec 1929 Eighton Banks, St. Thomas, Durham. Address Ship Lane, 9 New Houses. Does any one have any further details of this Robert William. Any help would be appreciated. Peter
