"Contents comprising Havannah, James St., Towneley St., Co Operative Tce., Louisa Tce., Greenland, Whistledown, Burnopfield Farm, Glower'oer Him, and Old Brick Works at Fanny Pit. Also a formerly detached part of the township of Kyo, comprising Havannah House and old cottages at the back" Burns Cottages also included. Hope this helps. Regards Rob Taylor

    2. Jenny De Angelis
    3. HI Andy, I am still here resarching the name WHITFIELD as well as TAYLORSON in the Stockton area and also when my branch of Whitfields wandered over to Sedgefield in the early 1800s. You will remember we shared information on our Whitfield families a few years ago but I have not found much more to add to that since. I have still not found the burial of George Whitfield's wife Mary nee TAYLORSON sometime after the birth of their dau. Rebecca in October1780 and George's re-marriage at Sedgefield in April 1787 to Jane CROFT. I know that it was the same George Whitfield that married Jane Croft from details shown in MI for the two of them, George's age at death fits with his brith in 1757. But no mention of Mary Whitfield George's first wife, anywhere. Happy New Year Jenny DeAngelis Spain. <<WHITFIELD Darlington, Portrack & Greatham>>

    3. Hi Folks, I have been watching this exchange with some interest. If my memory serves me right, the old Springwell colliery situated near the road between Springwell and Wreckenton was also known as Havannah Pit. In support of an earlier posting, Havannah Terrace was situated near where the Blue House roundabout now stands Regards, Raymond Cowey

    3. Findmypast (formerly 1837) are now starting to digitise passenger lists of ships leaving the UK in association with the National Archives. Instead of hoping they travelled to a particular country before searching there you will be able to find out which country they actually sailed to. At present only 1890 to 1899 are included. Transcripts and actual documents are pay per view. http://www.ancestorsonboard.com/ Richard

    2. PATRICIA HANDY
    3. Stan, Havannah was a place in Washington Co Durham (where I was born and still live). There used to be an army camp there many years ago. After Washington changed to a New Town some of the place names changed too and Havannah was one of them. There's a large B&Q store in Blackfell now where Havannah used to be. If you want more information about it please let me know as my dad is a mine of information about Washington having been here for the last 80 years. Hope this is of some use to you Patricia
