Hi, I know that Stan told us the other day that Durham CRO have changed the URL for their online certificates. I've just found out that they must have changed the URL for Durham place names. It is in my favourites and I've just clicked on it, and its not working now. Obviously Durham CRO must have changed that too, and I've searched on their site and can't find it. Can anyone help with the new one please? I know about Genuki Durham Towns and Parishes, but I'm wanting the one that Durham CRO had. Also does anyone know where Murton Row in Co Durham is please ? Jan Boyes
Many thanks to everyone who responded to my enquiry. Seems there are none on-line. Ruth in Hambledon, Hampshire
Thanks for the list Nivard. I see there are none for the 1870s - typical! You can search Gateshead registrations online at http://online.gateshead.gov.uk/bmd/default.aspx current coverage is listed at http://online.gateshead.gov.uk/bmd/coverage.aspx Unfortunately 1907 marriages are not yet there apparently, along with most of the 20th century mariages. Hi, I'm hoping there may be some experts on Longbenton listening in? I'm looking for the location of a place called Hanging Side Cottages in the 1851 census, and Hanning Side, in the 1881. Judging by the order of the series of households, it must be somewhere in the Craster Pit, Bewick Pit, Rising Sun Farm area of the east of Longbenton parish. Any suggestions? Thanks, Dave
Hi Lesley, Thanks for letting me know its the right one - really pleased for you. Good luck with finding his birth certificate too. So it is well worth checking both sources. There are also registrations in the GRO which are missing from the local indexes on the Net. You can't win! Adrian

I have tried several of my family births, they should be there, and am not getting any results, Lynne. ___________________________________________________________________________ Hi Lynne, Remember the site does not cover the whole of the original County of Durham just the present County Council Area, and does not have all the birth indexes. The whole of the city of Sunderland is excluded, as are the areas of Gateshead, South Tyneside and Tees Side, which have their own sites. FreeBmd have all births from 1837-1915 Stan Mapstone

All that I am aware of is a sketch showing a planned extension. It would appear that this extension was implemented and the grave map sheets for it can be seen at www.durham-images.org. The details on these sheets appear to agree with the burial records for the cemetery. These sheets need to be printed at A3 size to make the text legible. ------ Philip
I found my uncle who died at Gallipoli and who was also in the Tyneside RN, using the War Graves Commission site. They give you all his details plus where he is buried and a description of the cemetery. Cheers, Jim.
Thank you for the links Stan. It's much appreciated.
