Dear Sharon, Thanks for your reply to my posting about David DINSMORE. About his son James: I have very little information about this son, and am not 100% certain that he is a son of David DINSMORE. He shows up on the 1840 census in Morgan Co., AL, not far from my DINSMORE family. But note that by this time, there was another DINSMORE family in Morgan Co., descending from Adam and Elizabeth DINSMORE, who emigrated from Fahan, the parish of Templemore, Co. Donegal, Ireland in 1772, and settled at Falkville, AL. James may be of this family, rather than David's. I do have definite proof that John DINSMORE was a son of David. The only child of his that I am certain of is David Lewis DINSMORE, b. 1803, Wayne Co., KY, d. Dec. 1888, Lawrence Co., AL. On 19 March 1833, he married in Lawrence Co., AL, Eleanor KYLE, daughter of William KYLE. This couple had children: Phebe (b. 1836); Mary Kyle (b. 1 Nov. 1837, Lawrence Co., AL, d. 17 Apr. 1867, Lawrence Co., AL; m. David Crockett GOODLETT); Esther (b. abt. 1840, Lawrence Co., AL, m. after her sister's death David Crockett GOODLETT); John (b. 1843, Lawrence Co., AL, died as CSA soldier in Corinth, MS); Henrietta (b. abt. 1846, Lawrence Co., AL, m. Wm. C. ROSAMUND); David F. (b. 1848, Lawrence Co., AL, d. 1935); and William Lewis (b. 19 Dec. 1851, Lawrence Co., AL, 29 March 1938, Decatur, AL, m. 25 May 1880 in Moulton, AL, Nannie Leigh WERT, d/o Michael WERT and Esther Caroline COWAN). Hope this helps a bit, Bill Lindsey
