To members of DENSMORE-L and DUNSMOOR-L I suppose a note of explanation is in order. As you may know, Message Boards from Ancestry, MyFamily, and Rootsweb (GenConnect) were merged a week ago. Some would say the new system was released prematurely, since there are a lot of bugs in it. But, rest assured, the techs are working on the problems, with the help of loads of suggestions from Admins, like me. Although my initial reaction was one of shock and dismay, I now believe this merger will be a good thing. It may still take a few weeks for all the problems to get fixed, so try to be patient. You can view messages at Densmore http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=surnames.densmore&maxrows =25&dir=next Dunsmoor http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=surnames.dunsmoor&maxrows =25&dir=next Or start here http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p= and navigate to your localities or surnames of choice. You can also start from either www.ancestry.com or www.rootsweb.com . You can read any message you want to, but if you want to answer someone, or post a new message of your own, you will have to register and log in. There is no fee. Registering is becoming standard at many web sites now. You will also have to set your computer to accept cookies, so that the Message Boards will recognize you. If you have already registered at Ancestry, that login will work just fine. When anyone posts a message on the Densmore or Dunsmoor Message Board, it will be gatewayed to the appropriate list. At the present time, these gatewayed messages are not identified as such, but they will be, soon, I hope. If you have information for the person, you'll have to go to the Message Board to reply, or reply to the person directly, since that person may not be subbed to this list. One of the links you'll see at the DENSMORE and DUNSMOOR Boards is "Links and Announcements". Right now, the only thing that's there is my name and e-mail address, but I plan to offer some more info soon. Meanwhile, check the links at the bottom of the page - Message Board Rules, FAQ, Help. As a reminder, there are also message boards for DUNSMORE, DUNSMUIR, and DINSMORE, but I only admin the DUNSMOOR and DENSMORE boards and e-mail lists. If you have any questions or special concerns, please let me know. Happy hunting, Gail researching DUNSMOOR, DENSMORE in NI, MA, NY

Posted on: Dunsmoor Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/FamilyAssoc/Dunsmoor/10025 Surname: Clise, Densmore, Stevenson, Henry ------------------------- Thomas Clise's father George married Susannah Porter, daughter of "Squire" Mike Porter, , son of John and Nancy McKenzie Porter. You can find info on Porters at the LDS site (Mormon Church) on the web (Familysearch.org) and the US GenWeb site for Allegheny Co., MD.
Posted on: Dunsmoor Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/FamilyAssoc/Dunsmoor/10024 Surname: Clise, Densmore, Stevenson ------------------------- I just reopened a little book put together in 1978 by Elmer Clise. He only had a few bits of information on Thomas, mostly what I already have. This was what he wrote: "Thomas Clise married Agnes Stevenson. Thomas was killed in coal mine in W. Va. around 1920. Children to this couple: Walter Clise - died young; Thomas Clise and Peter Clise; Martha Clise married Edward Densmore. They had more children, but don't know their names." You have already corrected Edward's name for me. He mentions other Stevenson women, but never mentions their parentage. I am married to a Clise descendant, through James Knox Clise, (George's son and Thomas's brother), then through his son James Beauragard Clise, and through his son John Zwingle Clise. John is my husband's grandfather. I believe he would be your third cousin, once removed. Do you have much information on the Porter's?
Posted on: Dunsmoor Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/FamilyAssoc/Dunsmoor/10023 Surname: Clise, Densmore, Stephenson, Henry ------------------------- Yes, I have the info on George and Suzanne Porter Clise. It is possible spelling is Stevenson rather than Stephenson. I did not find any of either spelling when I visited the Allegney Co. Historical Society in Cumberland, MD. How do you come in? Through Clise or Densmore? Are we cousins of some linkage? Martha Clise was my grandmother. She was living with my parents, Harry and Mary Agnes Densmore Hoffman when she died in December 1961.
Posted on: Dunsmoor Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/FamilyAssoc/Dunsmoor/10022 Surname: Clise, Densmore ------------------------- I don't have any big leads on the Stephenson family. I do know that Thomas Clise was born in Midland, Allegany, Maryland, where all of his brothers and sisters were born. He is the 11th of 12 children, his parents being George Clise and Suzanne Porter. His brother Harrison Clise married Matilda Stevenson, b. 1859, and his sister Ellen Clise married Samuel Stevenson. Could these be siblings of Mary Agnes? Could there name also be spelled Stevenson, instead of Stephenson? Could the Stephenson (Stevenson) family have come from Allegany County? That is about all I know of them. Let me know if any of this rings a bell!
Posted on: Dunsmoor Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/FamilyAssoc/Dunsmoor/10021 Surname: Clise, Densmore, Stephenson, Henry ------------------------- Yes it is. His name was Edgar Wilson Densmore, he married Martha Louise Clise who was the daughter of Thomas F. Clise and Mary Agnes Stephenson. Edgar had at least two borthers, David S. and Frank. I don't know his father's name - that is one I am searching. My mother's notes talk of an Alexanderia Walker Densmore, born in Scotland but died in Wv, and an Archie Densmore, born and died in Scotland. I'm also trying to find Mary Agnes' parents. Do you have any leads?
Posted on: Dunsmoor Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Dunsmoor/10020 Surname: Clise, Densmore ------------------------- Dear Louise, Could your Martha Clise be the same as mine? I have a Martha Clise marrying an Edward Densmore. Martha is the daughter of Thomas Clise and Agnes Stevenson. Thomas was born in Allegany County, Md. in 1864, and he died in West Virginia about 1920. It is possible I have Edward, when it could be your Edgar. Please contact me! Thank you.

Posted on: Dunsmoor Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/FamilyAssoc/Dunsmoor/10019 Surname: Densmore, Clise, Stone, Henry ------------------------- David Henry and Virginia Stone Densmore are my great grandparents through their son Edgar Wilson Densmore who married Martha Louise Clise. David was born in Tunnelton, WV in 1854. My mother's notes list an Alexanderia Walker Densmore born in Scotland, died in WV, and an Archie Densmore, born and died in Scotland. But I haven't been able to link them to David. Nor can I find any Stones to link to Virginia. How do you know they were in Montana? Do you have any info that could help? David and Virginia had at least three sons; Edgar, David S. and Frank. Found an obit notice for David S in records in Allegheny Co. MD sources. Any help appreciated.
>From your ListAdmin - I received the following message tonight and thought you should know - Starting at 8 a.m. PST Friday, February 23, RootsWeb will begin a planned temporary downtime for maintenance of its servers and hosting process. Hi everyone, I am searching for information about my GGG Grandfather Samuel Brown Dunsmore. Samuel was born in Northern Ireland in 1804 to George and Margaret Dunsmore, shipping records show he was a farm servant from Balleymoney. He emmigrated from Derry (Loch Foyle) aboard the ship "Parland" bound for Australia with his family. If anyone has any info on his family in Irleand please let me know. Regards, Mike Dunmore

I found the following post at GenConnects County Antrim, Irelands Quieries. Thought I'd share. Posted by Jean Rice <[email protected]> on Sun, 14 Nov 1999, in response to Landowners, circa 1870s, posted by Jean Rice on Sun, 25 Jul 1999 "Per genealogy library reference book, the following individuals owned one or more acres of land in Co. Antrim, Ireland, the latter part of the 1870s: 34. Francis Dinsmore, address Kells owned 27 acres. 35. Henry Dinsmore, address Kingsbog, Carmoney, owned 1 acre. 36. Nancy Maria DENSMORE b 04 Nov 1810 Waterbury/Woodbury, Litchfield Co., CT mar. Joel HUBBELL 03 Dec 1831, Washington, Litchfield Co. CT and she d 13 Jan 1834. There is very little written in the vr of Litchfield Co. about this couple. Is it possible they had a son, (George Lewis HUBBELL) before she died? Was there another child? It may have been possible, but unlikely in that period of time. Who would have cared for the child of the young couple after Nancy's death and Joel's remarriage, Nancy's mother? Sister? Joel remarried in CT and had two children with his new wife before moving to NY state where they had two more children. They finally moved to Everton, IN and had the remainder of their children. Any possible leads for research or even answers to my questions would be greatly appreciated. Carol Hubbell Boggs
David Samuelson has added Wocester Co. MA to his Will Testators Index at http://www.wasatch.com/~dsam/sampubco/ . I found 5 DUNSMOOREs listed - no dates - John from Lancaster, John from Lunenburg, Oliver from New Braintree, Thomas from Brookfield, and William from Shrewsbury. I'm pretty sure that Oliver is father of my John Densmore, and thought someone else might find a connection here. If anyone already has any of these wills/probate, please let me know. I'm prepared to order, but would like to know what I might find, if possible. I've ordered from David before and have been pleased with the results, although it takes several weeks to get the copies. Hi Jan, I am not sure, but timing is right. My William Dunsmore had a daughter Elizabeth Phoebe DUNSMORE b1819 I think in WVa [I do not know his first spouse]. Could this be the same William?
