Thank you, Jim and Di, for keeping this list active. My Dunsmore deadend is William Dunsmore b1794 Sinks Grove, Greenbriar, VA, m Molly, Mary, Margaret, Millie Wanstaff. He d bef May 1860 in Sinks Grove (then Monroe Co). Familysearch.org has his father as James (c1750Ireland-1838VA), but there has been some question about this. It has James Father as John Dinsmoor (1730Ireland-1798Scotland) Can anyone verify this? We just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best wishes, Jim and Di

Her mother is still alive and she lives in Md. Her mother is my aunt. The lady that you spoke with now resides in Alabama and I remember her telling me about Jim and I believe he sent her some information about her biological father (his military records etc.) The biological mother and father were never married, but all 4 children were full blooded siblings. I found the wedding record of the oldest child. Iretta Virginia Dunsmore married in Faquier County, Va in Warrenton. The man she married I think the first name was Steven (but not sure) but for sure I know the last name was Taylor. See she was put in a foster home at the age of 5 or 6 and the two younger ones were adopted out and their records are sealed. So there is a possibility they may not remember that they were adopted and may never have found out. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Alexander, a brother and a sister immigrated to PA via Canada in 1837. Dear Dunsmoor genealogists, If some kind person has a copy of Nellie Ataline Gard's 1971 volume "Ancestors and descendants of Phineas and Polly (Gage) Dunsmoor" I would be very grateful for a lookup. I am trying to confirm the date and place of death of one Mary (WETHERBEE) KIMBALL, who may possibly have died in 1816 in Charlestown, NH. Google Books is frustrating me, because I can only get this snippet from the Gage volume: "She died in 1816 in Charlestown, New Hampshire. Ephraim5 had the rank of ensign in the militia. The D.A.R. Patriot Index, published in 1966, page 386 lists 'Ephraim Kimball, Sr., b. 8/16/1722; d. 2/14/1782; m. Mary Weatherbee PS MA.'" I'm not sure if the phrase "She died in 1816 in Charlestown, New Hampshire" pertains to the Mary (Wetherbee) Kimball I'm looking for or not, but if someone with the volume could check for that particular passage I'd appreciate it. The Mary I am looking for is indeed this one: "Ephraim Kimball, Sr., b. 8/16/1722; d. 2/14/1782; m. Mary Weatherbee", but without the rest of the context I can't tell if her date and place of death are given, or if the information given pertains to a different person. Mary (Wetherbee) Kimball's husband Ephraim Kimball is buried in the South Street Cemetery in Fitchburg, MA, and that's the location I'm studying. After Ephraim's death in 1782 it appears that his widow Mary removed to Charlestown, NH, to be with some of her children who had settled there. For my sketch of Ephraim and the South Street Cemetery I'd really like to be able to confirm where Ephraim's wife ended up. Many thanks. Bob in Fitchburg
I am sorry, but cannot help. As far as I can tell, my own line begins in North Carolina, in the extreme west that became northeastern Tennessee when that state was organized. However, I have seen, in one probable family, Dunsmore, Dinsmore, and Densmore. Lack of literacy, I'm sure, played a part in these variable spellings. I believe all in my line were farmers.
