My Dunphy history begins with John Dunphy born near St John, NB,CAN Jun 1816. I don't know yet who his parents were, but family lore prepared in 1937 says that his father and mother (pure Scottish) and g.grandfather (Cork born) had established a farm near St John in New Brunswick, CAN. A short biography is available in previous postings in our Dunphy Surname Board last Feb. One as reply to the thread; 'Info on Donald Dunphy' >'Dunphys in Maine,' another at,'John Dunphy (1816) St John, New Brunswick, CAN to Wisc 1855.' These postings are in the second group of 50 found by keying into our 'Dunphy Surname Boards.' While it's possible there may have been some tie in Ireland prior to my ancestors' departure, I don't know how to make that connection yet. In my research I've often found references to the Dunphys of Green County(?), Wis area, But haven't persued their histories yet. Wish I could be more help to you. Maybe now I'll pay more attention when I trip over the newspaper articles, etc. regarding your people and try to let you know where they can be found. Best regards and good hunting, Dick ddunphynh@juno.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
