My mother's father was James J. Heagney born in Nov 1909 and (he was raised by his grandmother Kate (Thomas) Heagney in Janesville, WI along with his aunts Alice Heagney died 1980 never married, Gertrude Heagney died 1968 (never married). Other children of the Kate and Thomas Heagney family were Ellen (Nell) Sullivan (James Heagney's birth mother, she got TB and went to a sanitorium "down south" and she is buried in Janesville, WI. Then Alice, Gertude, Harriet, Mary, Thomas & Walter Heagney. All deceased now. Any help would be appreciated in this Croak, Heagney, Sullivan family puzzle. Unclear of Ellen's marriage to a man with the last name Sullivan, a RR engineer & he worked for the railroad and was tragically killed along with a fireman onboard a steam train (explosion)possibly in the 40's. My grandfather was sent here to Wisconsin ! to live with his grandmother Kate or Katherine Heagney (widow of Thomas Heagney, he died in 1907. Kate raised him and baptised him at the St.Patrick's Church in Janesville. John Croak owned a brewery in Janesville until 1934. Would love to know more about him. I actually have seen photos of him and his family. ~Debbie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
