Though not a delegate for Roosevelt, he is reported to be willing to wager from $1 to $10,000 that Teddy would get the nomination and win the election stating that he had come from Topeka, Kan to find Taft supporters with enough sand to take his wager/wagers. He was reported to display enough of a poke to handle any and all takers. Does anyone have any background, stories of, or link to this colorful Dunphy?
