    2. "Attention: There is a rumor circulating among veteran service organizations that Official Military Personnel Files (OMPFs) at the National Personnel Records Center will be digitized and then destroyed. This rumor is NOT TRUE. Neither the Department of Defense (DoD) nor the National Personnel Records Center intend to destroy any OMPFs stored at the Center. The purpose of any electronic scanning would be to reduce the handling of fragile records during the reference process or to reduce the time necessary to locate and answer an OMPF inquiry. The National Archives and Records Administration preserves and protects OMPFs because they are permanently valuable records that document the essential evidence of military service for the veterans of our nation." The above message came directly from the official government website for requesting military records and you may verify it by logging onto the website I gave above. So if any of you should receive an email that says paper military records are about to be destroyed, please ignore that message. It isn't true. And to our dear cousin who brought this to our attention, thank you sweet lady. We appreciate it because if it had been true, we definitely would have been requesting the records of several family members. Well, that's it from this end for tonight, so have a wonderful day tomorrow and I will talk to you later. HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!
