My grandfather married my grandmother Isabelle Smith in NJ in 1920.They had 8 children who were all born in NJ. The name Dunphy was changed alot over the years. In my family the name was spelled Dunphy it was never spelled Dunfee or Dunphey.According to information I have my ggrandmother's grave stone reads Dumphy. My uncle(my mom's brother),had mentioned that some of our Dunphy ancestors had settled in Massachusetts. My grandfather's death certificate reads: Francis Xavier Dunphy born in New York City,NY December 6,1890 and died August 5,1966 in Warren County,NY.Parents were:Harry and Mary Ann McKever Dunphy. My grandfather has no birth certificate and his baptismal certifcate burned up in a church fire,Trenton,NJ.My mom can remember hearing her parents argue of the fact that he had a hard time finding work,he had no proof of where he was born.My mom tells me that he had a "Broage or Broge" accent. My grandfather's family was catholic.
