Surnames: Dunphy,Smith Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BmT.2ACEB/224 Message Board Post: I'm searching for information of my ggrandfather.His first name was believed to be Harry Dunphy.I have no dates to go by.My ggrandmother was Mary Ann.Their children were:Agnes,Mary and my grandfather,Francis.I was told a story that my ggrandfather came to america from Ireland,headed west to pan for gold and was never to be seen or heard from again,another story was told that my ggrandfather had died in Ireland and my ggrandmother had moved her children to america in the late 1800's early 1900's.My ggrandmother Mary Ann,daughters,Agnes,Mary and my grandfather Francis Dunphy arrived through Ellis Island and lived in NYC.It was hard times for the family and Mary Ann had to give up her children,my grandfather was raised in an orphanage and my great Aunts,Agnes and Mary were brought up in a girl's school.Later in years,my grandfather lived and worked with Sinclairs Horse Farm in NJ.Francis married first wife(unknown)Young of College Point,NY and married second wife,my grandmothe! r Isabelle Smith of Canada.
