I don't have all the info with me right at the moment but the family apparently came from Ireland>Newfoundland to Cape Breton- there is a Ned Dunphy and a Thomas Dunphy as well as many brothers and sisters and I can't remember exactly where Edward fits in. My grandmother was Lena (Selena) Dunphy daughter of Patrick Dunphy and Catherine McLellen of White Point and Pleasant Bay respectively. I am at work at the momemnt but if you want to email me I can give you the names of all the family members as I was lucky enough to receive a detailed family tree from a Dunphy in White Point. He left behind a widow and four children, Christine, Julia, Robert and Jack Sullivan, who would have been born between 1922 and 1934, probably in NC. Wonder where they are today! Other children of the Kate and Thomas Heagney family were Ellen (Nell) Sullivan (James Heagney's birth mother, she got TB and went to a sanitorium "down south" and she is buried in Janesville, WI. Then Alice, Gertude, Harriet, Mary, Thomas & Walter Heagney. All deceased now. Any help would be appreciated in this Croak, Heagney, Sullivan family puzzle. Unclear of Ellen's marriage to a man with the last name Sullivan, a RR engineer & he worked for the railroad and was tragically killed along with a fireman onboard a steam train (explosion)possibly in the 40's. My grandfather was sent here to Wisconsin ! to live with his grandmother Kate or Katherine Heagney (widow of Thomas Heagney, he died in 1907. Kate raised him and baptised him at the St.Patrick's Church in Janesville. John Croak owned a brewery in Janesville until 1934. Would love to know more about him. Surnames: Dunphy, Dunfey, Dunfee Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BmT.2ACEB/224.1 Message Board Post: Your line has an interesting story. Harry Dunphy was born in NJ (b 1/19/1864) and was married to Mary Ann McKeever (b 4/1849) on 2/6/1886. They had 4 children; William, Mary, Francis (b. 12/6/1890) & Agnes. They did not come from Ireland. They track back in NJ to at least the late the 1700's. Here is the story on Harry: An interpretation of the 1870 Census, seems to indicate that Harry "Henry" may have been residing with his Great Uncle & Aunt, William (brother of Charles) & Elizabeth Dunphy in Plumstead Township, New Jersey, at the age of only 7 years. Both Harry's parents were still alive and the same Census indicates he was at home with his parents. The family story says Maryann kicked Harry out of his home because he was a drunk. She was then unable to take care of her children, so they were sent away, Francis to an orphanage and the two girls to a convant. However, the two daughters were found in the St. Michael's Orphanage in Hopewell Township, Mercer County, in the 1900 Federal Census. Harry's son Francis married twice. 1st to Gertrude Young of NY, between 1900 & 1920 (4 children), then to Isabelle Smith in 1920 (8 children). Francis, like his father, has a sorted past. Harry decends from my line; William Dunphy & Diadamey Bennett. William decends from Charles Dunphy & Nancy Inman. Charles decends from John Dunfey who was born in NJ about 1774. We do not know his wife's, Lucy (Betsy), maiden name.
