I am their direct descendant. Michael Henry Dunphy (went by Henry) and his family (not sure who was alive or what siblings, but his parents were Thomas Edward Dunphy and Hannah Listen Dunphy) lived in Creston at the turn of the century. They moved there from Illinois in 1883. Henry married Margaret Pearl Davenport (went by Pearl) in 1909 in Creston. Their only son, Thomas Eugene Dunphy (went by Eugene) - I know, what's with the middle name thing? - was my grandfather. Does this make a connection with anything that you have? A Remembrance service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at his home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Galilee Mission, 268 Kingstown Road in Narragansett R.I. 02882 or VNS Home Health Services, 14 Woodruff Ave. Suite 7 in Narragansett. Dr. Dunphy was born in Providence, R.I., the son of Ernest 'Capt.' and Minna Glahn Dunphy. He married Joyce Woodhouse in 1963, at High Prairie Methodist Church in Muscatine. He graduated from South Kingstown High School in 1953. He attended Augustana College in Moline, Ill. and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport. He and his parents survived the 1938 hurricane on Clark's, now Quonsett, Point. He had been a commercial fisherman. He was a chiropractor in Wickford for more than 38 years. He was a member of the Chiropractic Society of Rhode Island and a lifetime member of Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid fisherman and skier. He was a quartermaster in the U.S. Coast Guard. I found a reference regarding Thomas L Dunphy (1883-1961), spouse Mabel Dunphy (1884-1958). It lists a son Clair a Dunphy (1908-1961 my grandfather). It states Thomas was the son of Charles & Eliza Dunphy. You may already know this but thought would post anyway. I can remember my dad, Elmore Austin Dunphy saying he was an only son as was his father Clair Austin Dunphy. I do remember dad took us to visit the grave of Kenneth (blackhawk) Dunphy.
