    1. John Dunphy
    2. Jennifer Broom
    3. One of my ancestors was a John Dunphy, son of James and Deborah Dunphy. On 27-5-1849 he married Alice Fitzgerald, at Swords, near Malahide. John and Alice had a daughter Anna on 2-7-1850 at Headford in Galway. Alice and Anna emigrated alone to Australia in 1854. It is not known why John Dunphy was not with them. Anna told her family John was a surveyor. Maybe he worked on the Griffiths Valuation. A John Dunphy is recorded in the townlands of Townpark, Tuam, in 1855. I would be grateful for any leads on this John Dunphy. Jennifer Broom.

    1. Tipperary to Wisconsin
    2. I am interested in hearing from anyone who has a connection to the Dunphy and Croak families who left Ireland in the 1840's and settled in the Green and Rock counties, WI. I'm trying to find where in Tipperary they came from (possibly Ballingarry) and who was who's sibling. I have a Margaret Dunphy b. abt 1822 and believe a Mary Dunphy Croak b. abt 1825, to be her sister, there was also a John Dunphy b. abt 1820, living with Mary Dunphy Croak in the 1860 Albany, Green, WI census. There are quite a few Dunphy's buried in the Calvary (Old Croak Settlement) Cemetery in Magnolia. Sue

Hopefully ours match up. They would have been born around the time period you have mentioned. My Dunphys apparently resided in Dublin. I live in Queensland, Australia, which is where my GGGrandmother, Anna Dunphy immigrated to from Ireland. She married a John Gethings, also from Ireland. My Patrick Dunphy was a plasterer though, and neverr mentioned as a being a farmer, although it is possible they where at some stage. I would be interested to see if we are both on the same path. I look forward to hearing from you. Kind Regards Melanie
