    3. It's been a while since I inquired about my gggrandfather George Dunn. It appears there are new users of the Dunn site, so I'll make another appeal for info. Here's what I know....George Dunn temporarily left his wife, Margaret, and their children, in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1862. He had been engaged by the Confederacy to ply his engraver's trade in the service of the CSA in making plates for currency and bonds. After a couple of run-ins with the Union blockade of the American South, he reached Richmond, VA, where he set up a printing/engraving business, Geo. Dunn & Company. I've found numerous examples of his work on the internet. This includes banknotes, bond issues, and many editions of sheet music that was written by, and for, southerners in 1863/64. I know that, at some point after the Civil War, George Dunn relocated in the North, probably in the NY metropolitan area, and worked in the printing trade again. But I don't know exactly where he lived or worked. He died on July 18, 1883, but I don't know where he was buried. Although the above information is sketchy, I hope someone will be able to identify with it and help to fill in the wide gaps in my knowledge of George Dunn. My fingers remain crossed.
